A Good Debt Relief Agency – 3 Things to Look Out For
If you have finally come to the place where you realize that you need help with your finances then I want to commend you for that. Most people don’t realize how bad their situation is until it’s too late and the bank takes the car. Even though you may not be one of those, the task of trying to find a good debt relief agency to take you by the hand and lead you through your wilderness of debt can be quite daunting if you don’t know what to look for. So, what I want to do in this article is to give you 3 things to look out for in your search and hopefully I can help you pick the right one.
1. Cost – This almost goes without saying as you are probably trying to pinch every penny in order to get out of debt already but I do want to warn you to beware of hidden costs. Never pay more than a $50 setup fee and $25 maintenance fee as this should be plenty for most companies. If they are asking for more you should put up some red flags.
2. Beware of Scammers – A Good Debt Relief Agency will have a good reputation and will be well known. Do your research on any company you are considering before giving them any money. Many people have been scammed by sweet talking phone salesmen with lofty promises of great deals and lower interest rates, only to find themselves worse off than before. This is a real problem today so please check them out before you give them any money!
3. Look For Certification – Any good debt relief agency will be certified and if you are not sure you can go to The National Foundation for Credit Counseling and they will set you up with a certified agency near you.
Above all, don’t rush your decision when it comes to getting help with your debt problem. There are legitimate and very helpful agencies out there so don’t let all the bad ones turn you off of the legitimate trustworthy companies that will be able to help you.
